while i am moving, i vow never to take that tone with alberta. the one where i look down at how horribly conservative it is and ask its residents what they are doing about it….

also the comments towards AB government politics like “…remembering why I left” and shit like that. you left cuz you’re a brat with money (most of the time). your choice, but shuttup about it. oh, and NO WHERE in Canada are politics progressive (BC I’m looking at you). every single fucking province is putting poor people in jail and exercising violent colonialist power over Indigenous people and lands, and so on. Let’s just get that straight.

I needed this today. Yes, Alberta is struggling with our nutty electoral politics, but there are so many beautiful things happening here simply because of the people who are here and commit to taking care of each other, while fucking up the shit too.

Yes - Thank all of you. I’ve been really depressed and dealing with this foreboding sense of fear, in what I am certain is coming our way on Monday. That being said, I’ve never felt better about the city I live in, and its because people have chosen to stay here, to make a difference. Whether it’s political or apolitical, the way that my friends have fought to eke out something meaningful in our community has only endeared me more to Edmonton.   It’s not easy all the time, but it shouldn’t be.
